Aidan Gomez

In the opening session at the Cerebral Valley AI Summit in London, Aidan Gomez, CEO of Cohere and co-author of the seminal “Attention Is All You Need” paper, said that we’ve effectively already reached AGI.

Gomez also cautioned against the risk of the Western world relying too heavily on American foundation models for their AI capacity. In his view, we have to get away from a “single point of failure” for AI that’s controlled by democratic countries, and ensure multiple global frontier labs have a seat at the table.
